Let's Talk About TV

Every day, people watch TV for entertainment, news, and information, but few people think of TV as a vehicle for graphic design. Yet, the TV industry—worth over $400 billion dollars—is one of the biggest employers of in-house graphic designers, design studios, and agencies. Television networks use graphic design to create the visual communications and branding for their networks and show content. This includes things like show key art, main titles, on-air promotional campaigns, and various forms of audio-visual content.

On Tuesday, October 27th at 12:30pm eastern/9:30am pacific special guest host, Brandon Lori will lead a discussion on design and television. Brandon is a designer and creative director in the entertainment industry, with the majority of his clients in television. He’s worked with some of the most recognizable brands in TV, including Comedy Central, AMC Networks, Complex Networks, The Today Show, Nickelodeon, MTV, NBC News, and many more. He is an active member of AIGA NY and The Design Observer Cooperative. Brandon is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he first discovered his love of television.

Brandon will be joined by Thomas Berger, Senior Vice President of Brand Design for the Entertainment and Youth group at ViacomCBS, which includes MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, TV Land, POP, CMT, and Smithsonian Channel, Padraic Driscoll, Creative Director, CNN Digital, and Catalina Rodriguez, Senior Motion Designer, Disney Plus; each representing different areas of television: entertainment, news, and streaming services. And while the guests use design for TV, each of them apply it in a different way.
